Teledyne Microelectronics Announces
New Radiation Micro Dosimeter
LOS ANGELES, Calif. - April 23, 2010 - Teledyne Microelectronics Technologies, a business unit of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE: TDY), announced its new compact, lightweight radiation Micro Dosimeter. The Micro Dosimeter measures radiation to provide dose rate and total mission dose data. The initial target market is spacecraft, but it can be used on aircraft, ships, defense vehicles and nuclear projects as well. For more information or to download a datasheet, go to www.teledynemicro.com and click on "radiation dosimeter" in the new products section.
At 20 grams and a 1 x 1.4 inch footprint, the Micro Dosimeter can be mounted on multiple locations, both surface and payload. It integrates easily on to standard spacecraft housekeeping systems, provides real time data to aid in anomaly diagnosis and can be used to alarm operators of hazardous environmental conditions or hostile action. The radiation data collected can be used to optimize future electronic designs, and establish radiation profiles and budgets to better forecast mission life.
"The Micro Dosimeter's small size, low weight, and standard interconnect system makes it an ideal, cost-effective solution for dose radiation measurement in rugged environments," said Brad Smith, Vice President and General Manager of Teledyne Microelectronic Technologies. "This collaborative effort with The Aerospace Corporation combines Teledyne Microelectronic Technologies' rich heritage of building high-reliability microelectronics with The Aerospace Corporation's innovative vision for technical excellence in the space market."
